How to use News Trend Decoder

  1. The homepage shows one grid per story: a tile for each watched language. Filled tiles mean that language is covering the story right now; empty ones mean it isn't — that absence is information, not a gap to ignore.
  2. Open a story to see the actual lead sentence from each language, cited and timestamped.
  3. Below the grid is one outcome line. Most of the time it will say the coverage split for ordinary reasons, or that there isn't enough coverage yet to say anything. Sharper language only appears when a specific claim is disputed or has no public source.
  4. Open “Go deeper” for the four-box breakdown, the claim ledger, and the terminology timeline.

House vocabulary

Provenance concentration
How much a cluster of similar-sounding coverage traces back to one root statement (a press release, a wire exclusive) versus independent reporting.
Ordinary reasons
The tool's default read: shared wording or emphasis differences that have a mundane newsroom explanation, not a hidden campaign.
Leftover tag
A short label — fact in dispute, no public source, or emphasis only — applied after the defensive read is done, before any sharper tone is used.
Claim ledger
A timestamped, cited log of factual claims about an event and how each one was later refined, corrected, contradicted, or dropped.
