The field

Where each story sits, by the outlets carrying it: left to right across, distance from power up the side. The useful reading is rarely a story’s position — it is the spread. A story the whole field is covering and a story being carried from one corner are different objects, and that is hard to see in a list.

Nothing can be plotted yet

Both axes come from a per-outlet judgement — where an outlet sits politically, and how close it stands to power — and none of the 66 sources has been scored.

These scores are deliberately not generated. The project’s own rule (spec §155) is that bias and establishment scoring must be “built by someone who actually reads that press” and is “explicitly not automatable by having a model guess at an unfamiliar media ecosystem’s reputations.” A map drawn from invented coordinates would put a guess on the page with JHN’s name under it.

Fill in source-scores.csv and run npm run scores:import. Partial is fine — the map draws whatever has been scored and says how much is missing.
